Do You Realize? - Flaming Lips
Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize - we're floating in space -
Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry
Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun don'-go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face

Nerd Convention
I almost wrote 'Geek Convention' but that's just too nice. If you've never been to a nerd convention, I highly recommend it. Especially if you were a nerd previously, and have found your way to geekdom, this is the place that will confirm just how far you have come. I'm currently at the APS March Meeting- a gathering of many of the world's prominent and not so prominent physicists. They really are a sad group of pimply (or the bad skin that comes from post pimples), glasses on everyone, bald hair with the long pre-balding hair that they never cut, not to mention the jinormous gearth some of these men have- wow. The women are even sadder. They've speant the majority of their female lives dealing with the over inflated ego of horny nerds, so they've tried to blend into the shadows, instead of standing out like the gemstones that women really are. They wear frumpy clothes which hide their curves, most are very very pimply (like the rocky mountians pimply), and they walk around with this beaten over the head look in their eyes. Its just sooooo damn sad and pathetic here- my mind is reeling. I just wish these people would pull each others heads out of each others asses, wake up and realize that they can actually make a change to the world. These people are all very smart, but its like being smart has become the center of their focus, and this event embodies that idea because it gives them all a forum where they can say, "Look at how SMART I AM!!!"

Kechak
Kechak is a good dog. He is the little guy pictured below. I saw a really cool trick that Kechak can do. Dru will take a bunch of stuffed animals (dog, leopard, cow, monkey, etc), grab all of them and drop them on the floor. Then he says, 'Where's the monkey?' and Ketchak will go over and put his paw on the monkey. Wow.
Who Wants In?
Ok so wow. $1.4 million doesn't buy you much these days.
Smith Grade Prop.
So that means we're talking $35,000/acre. I remember property being in the less than 10k per acre in MI. Eeek
But then again you don't have views and weather like this in MI.
So I figure some of us go in on 20 acres ea. that's 750k, build a place for say 300k-500k depending. That's 1.1-1.3million invested. Turn around sell the 20 acre developed lot for more than that. Meh.
There's cheaper stuff too, so you can probably find a deal.

Californication
I love living here!
First off it is Feb. 27th:
I've been driving home in the mornings between 9am-10am from my night shift in Palo Alto. It's been raining alot lately so stuff is blooming. Yesterday morning, I was driving home and there were no flowers on the sides of the road. This morning there were the beautiful yellow dafodils all over the place!
We've also been experiencing lower than normal temperatures upper 30s at night. This is just cold enough for the local mountians to get a bit of snow up at the tops. So, I'm driving home, the rain stopped last night, the sun is shining brightly, and there's some night post rain fluffy clouds, with a mountian range in the distance with a dusting of snow on the top! How can you ask for more?

Movies to see
I just got done watching a movie called "Out of Order"
Really cool movie about the imperfection of humans. Its written/directed/produced by this couple who is doing an autobiography about their relationship. So its told in the first person, from the persepective of the person making the movie. Very interesting narative form that I haven't really seen before in film.
Also, you have to see "The Science of Sleep." It just came out on DVD last week. Its gotta be one of the richest movies I've seen.

A New Day
Ok I feel better. I'm all over that shit.
Went climbing yesterday and met some randoms who held my lifeline. That was nice. I also went for a walk around the neighborhood and found this cool barn house. It has skylights all the way down its main roofline. Check it out:

Life is just too short to wallow in self pity, especially when there's so much beauty around all of us. I guess I just wish I had a thicker skin sometimes. I guess I just really value the people I have in my life.
